A few months back I found an old storage closet on the third floor of my apartment complex full of old frames. After asking our super what the deal was she told me they came out off all the old apartments over the years, AAAAANNNDDD she told me to help myself. Oh did I ever. I ended up taking five frames. I recently saw a chicken wire backed frame at a girlfriends and decided it was a really cute and different way to display smaller items. I ended up painting the frame out in Martha Stewart's speciality finish line of paints. I didn't get a great crackle out of the finish but I have to admit I did not follow the instructions on the back of the paint bottle. So all in all I really enjoy her paints. I am also happy with the vintage looking finish.
I went and picked up four feet of chicken wire, and rolled it out over the back of the frame. My husband held it down and I stapled around the edges (we pulled it as tight as we could) and then used wire cutter to trim the extra. The ends of the wire are sharp so I either stapled them down or used pliers to bend them in.
I was super easy to do and super cheap. (the whole project was under 10 dollars!) now Im gonna get some clothes pins and find cute photos to hang off the wire!
